Data Source
- Population Dataset: This Eurostat dataset represents the number of people having their usual residence in a country on 1 January of the respective year.
- Crime Dataset: Derived from Eurostat's EU-SILC, this dataset details the occurrence of crime, violence, or vandalism across various urbanization settings, providing valuable insights into safety and security trends.
Protocol
- In order to include both datasets in one visualization, we create a new merged version for set up the work, ensuring an equal span of years.
- We apply a scaler to our data to decrease distances between crime index and population quantity.
- To visualize the behavior during years of the changes related to population and crime, we create the trends.
- Additionally, we generate trend lines to visually see if in general during those years the trend line has a positive or negative slope.
- The final visualization is grouped by country for making the analysis stratified.
- Graph set up on:
- x_axis : years
- y_axis : crime_index, trend_l_crime, population, trend_l_population
- raw_filter : Country
